Samsung is classified as a multinational
conglomerate and its headquarters are in South Korea. It is ranked 10 in the
Corporate Knights Global 100 most sustainable corporations. Our research
hypothesis is that Samsung's sustainable mission has increased their
performance and contributed to innovation. Our team's research methodology is
the case study research method and will be collecting data from secondary
sources, like GRI reports, annual reports, and companies' articles. The data
will be analyzed by using Triple bottom line (Molthan, 2017) and Integrated report guideline,
and the stage of sustainability that Samsung is at. By using articles as
"Why sustainability is now the key driver of innovation" (Nidumolu
et al, 2009) and in combination with other sources, Samsung has come to
demonstrate that they have increased in various areas as the people, planet,
and profit. By their determination, they are now in stage three of
sustainability, and by the Mindmap, they displayed proof of their great
efforts by campaigns, activities, improving their products, eco-design, and
co-management. In addition, system thinking at Samsung comes to show us how are there approacjing the waste that they are responsible for. Moreover, through life cycle assesment and sustainable product design they come to generate effective ways to affect in a positive way the environment. Not forgetting the importances of developing further their circular economy and Green manufacture and sustainable supply chain at Samsung.
